De Nune was a prolific painter in both Edinburgh and Dumfries. There are examples of his work in both the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery of Scotland. A portrait of Elizabeth Stewart of Shambellie, painted by De Nune in the 1740s can be seen at the National Museum of Costume, Shambellie, New Abbey.
We would welcome more information on De Nune, who is the earliest artist we have with a recorded connection with Dumfries and Galloway
