Between 1913 and 1924 exhibited 28 landscape and rustic paintings at the Royal Scottish Academy, many of them scenes in Galloway. Dakers was chief writer and editor of the Haddingshire Courier from the 1880s to 1918. He worked in Castle Douglas for the Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser from 1918 to 1922/3.
Dakers was a mentor of William Gillies. There may have been a family connection as Robert Dakers’ father was Robert Gillies Dakers.
