Illustrated the works of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and George Eliot as well as several Highways and Byways including Highways and Byways in Galloway and Carrick by Rev C H Dick (see bibliography). While touring Galloway illustrating Dick’s Highway’s and Byway’s (see bibliography) in 1914, at the height of national fever about German spies, he was arrested at Maxwellton and detained for questioning at Auchencairn.
