English artist, born in Sunderland. Did illustrations for the Abbotsford edition of the Waverley Novels by Scott, including Dirk Hatteraick’s Cave, Coast of Galloway and View of the Solway, Mouth of the Nith, Criffel in the Distance, for Guy Mannering. His Annan, Skiddaw in the Distance, watercolour on paper, used to illustrate Redgauntlet, is in Aberdeen Art Gallery.
