Notes:

Painter in oil and watercolour, also etcher.  An etching, Burns House, Dumfries is at Rozelle Art Gallery, Ayr (946 R AYRRH 760 107), one of a series he produced of twelve etchings of places connected with Robert Burns.  The set is in the North Ayrshire Museum and Art Gallery.  "Houston travelled quite extensively throughout Scotland taking in scenes from Sutherland in the north to Dumfriesshire and the Solway in the south" (Stewartry Museum file).  His Near Dalry, Galloway was exhibited at the RGI 1919.  His A View Across the Nith to Criffel, Bonhams, Edinburgh, 11/4/2002.
