Image of the artist.  The photograph shows Cyril Wilson in his studio at Sunny Brae.  In the background are works which give some idea of the artist’s style, which he termed organic.  The organic style, he said, was rooted in the use of imagery taken from nature.

Involved with Gracefield Arts Centre since its early days; firstly as a member of the Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society and as advisor to the Painting collection sub-committee of the Dumfriesshire Educational Trust. 

 

Cyril Wilson followed Cecile Walton as President of the Dumfries and Galloway Fine Arts Society 1954.  He had been President of the Forces Art Club in Cairo 1941-1947.

Designed the lectern, communion table and font in Kirkmahoe Church and designed, painted and worked the main stained glass window in the Barony Church of Dalswinton.
