Cora’s mum was the artist and writer, Gwen Cuthbert. Gwen was a friend of the Kirkcudbright artist Jessie Marion King. Jessie designed a blue silk dress for Cora decorated with flowers and also a little rabbit. Jessie used an unusual technique at this time in the 1920s, known as batik, to create the colourful design.
