FREE talk and demonstration by Julia Alexandra Mee, exploring the historic technique of buon fresco. This revered wall painting technique reached its pinnacle during the Italian Renaissance period with artists such as Michelangelo. One of Julia’s frescoes is included in the 40/40 Vision exhibition (40 Years of WASPS Studios) currently showing in Kirkcudbright Galleries. This talk and demonstration will give an insight into this remarkable technique, with practical demonstrations of the various stages of the process, from mixing the plaster, preparing pigments, transferring the design onto the plaster surface and the painting process.
