John Campbell Mitchell was on the staff of the Edinburgh College of Art at its foundation in 1907. In Galloway, developed a great attraction for and technique in portraying changeable skies. A Galloway Upland, 1907, sold at Sotheby’s Tyninghame, East Lothian 29 September 1987, lot 508. His Autumn at Carrick sold at Bonhams, Edinburgh lot 58  3/12/2004.
